About us
At Building Language our mission is to empower children and their families to maxmise their potential as communicators. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to express themselves and thrive in every environment.
We celebrate neurodiversity and provide personalised, evidence-based speech and language therapy services for children ages 0-8 years.
We strongly believe in changing the world, not the child, and treasuring the things that make each child unique.
Our Services
Fluency (Stuttering)
Stuttering is when a child has trouble speaking smoothly. It can involve repeating sounds or words, stretching out sounds, or getting stuck trying to say a word. Stuttering usually starts between ages 2 and 4 and can vary in how severe it is.
Speech Sounds
Phonological processes are patterns young children use to simplify speech as they learn to talk. For example, they might say "tat" instead of "cat" or "nana" instead of "banana". These patterns are a normal part of speech development and typically fade as children grow.
Speech sounds, also called articulation, refer to how we move our tongue, lips, and other parts of the mouth to produce clear sounds.
Expressive & Receptive Language
Expressive Language: This is how a child communicates their thoughts, needs, and ideas to others. It includes using words, phrases, or sentences to express themselves, as well as gestures, pointing, or facial expressions.
Receptive Language: This is how a child understands what is said to them. It involves listening and making sense of words, instructions, questions, visual, or sign.
Social Communication
Social communication encompasses our social interactions with others. We are passionate about delivering neurodiversity affirming practices and always honor individual communication preferences and interaction styles.
